Marlene K. Merrell, 71, Granby, died September 22, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital, following an illness since July, 2016.
Marlene was born February 26, 1945 in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob M. and Lorraine Sullivan. She moved to Neosho in 1983 from Komawa, Oklahoma and worked at the Recorder’s office in the Newton County Courthouse, until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed history and genealogy and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church.
Marlene and John R. Merrell, Sr., were married on Aug. 16, 1973 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2012. She is survived by five children, Mike Krueger and wife, Patty of Neosho; Teri Loghry and husband, Scott of Springdale, Arkansas; Julia Merrell-Bird of Seneca; T.J. Merrell and wife, Margaret of Joplin and Shawn Merrell and wife, Shayla of Neosho; four brothers, John, Jake, Chuck and Bruce Sullivan; six sisters, Phyllis Helland, Janice Stone, Patty Hoag, Thea Zimmerman, Cathy Fredrickson and Mary Wickman; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
