Martha Harns

Martha Harns, 91, Albuquerque, New Mexico died Sunday at Northridge Alzheimers Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Martha was born March 14, 1925 to Charles Nelson Outt and Elvalee Ricksecker Outt in Galena, Kansas. When Martha was very young, the family moved to Joplin. After graduation from high school, Martha went to Chicago to study art. Martha’s passion in life was her art and she was very creative in some of her pieces.

Martha met Jerry Harns, a young college student when she was in her teens. In September 1944, they were married in Venice, Florida where Jerry was stationed after completing Officers Candidate School.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Martha and Jerry decided to make Albuquerque their home. Martha loved Albuquerque, where she was able to continue her art education and teach art to young children at Kirkland AF Base. She was a member of the Colonel’s Wives Club and was especially proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Martha is survived by one sister, Betty Lindsey, Englewood, FL. She is also survived by several Nephews and Nieces and her dear caregivers for the last six and one half years, Jan and Gerry 
Darnell, Fishers, IN. Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
