H. Marvin Mager, of Lockwood, MO, entered his eternal home in heaven on September 24, 2016 at the age of 91 years.
He was born on March 4, 1925 in Jefferson City, MO, the son of Henry and Bertha (Walther) Mager. Marvin attended Trinity Lutheran School and Jefferson City High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attained the rating of Carpenters Mate first class, E6. Marvin served on the minesweeper USS Saunter and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with V for valor in combat, various medals including the Secretary of the Navy Unit Commendation, American Pacific and Asian Pacific with two battle stars, WWII Victory, and the Philippines Liberation Medal with two battle stars. He was recalled to active duty for the Korean Conflict and served one and one half years as a firefighting instructor at the Damage Control Training Center at the naval base in Philiadelphia.
Following his military service, he was employed for twenty-nine years with the Missouri Highway Department. Marvin detailed bridge plans and later was a senior structural designer in the bridge department.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Mager; four daughters, Jeanie Steele and the late Mark Steele of Sheboygan, WI, Kathy Pullen and husband Tim of Lenexa, KS, Lori Eggerman and husband Tim of Lockwood, MO, and Jana Mager of Raymore, MO; one brother, Kenneth Mager of Concordia, MO; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Marvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. After moving to a residence in Lockwood in 2000, he became a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
