Ted C. Darnell, age 91, of Joplin passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 1:10 pm.
Mr. Darnell was born June 7, 1925 in Miami, Ok to Sam and Marguerite (Gillette) Darnell. He served his country in the United States Army. Ted owned and operated Show Me Equipment for many years. He was also the shop foreman at E.A. Martin. Ted was a 50 year member of the Joplin Shriner’s where he was Past Rajah of the Abou Ben Adhem Oriental Band and had served as several officer positions during those years. Ted loved the children he was able to visit as a Shriner. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Joplin. Ted enjoyed traveling and made frequent trips to Mexico, South Padre Island and Branson.
Mr. Darnell is survived by his wife, Naomi (Ahart) Darnell, of the home; sons, Jim Darnell and wife Beverly of Temple, Tx and Tim Allen and wife Sylvia of Eldon, Mo and a daughter, Misti Scott and husband Curtis of Carl Junction, Mo. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Darnell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sam Darnell and his wife, Juanita.
Funeral Services for Ted Darnell will be 2:00 PM Monday at the Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction with Rev. Bob Easton officiating. Burial will follow at the Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Monday beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
