Gerald Ely

Gerald E. Ely, 92, Neosho, formerly of Purdy, Missouri, died Sept. 10, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. 

 Gerald was born July 9, 1924 in Fairview, Missouri, the son of Harry and Myrtle (Erisman) Ely. He was a lifelong area resident and had worked at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas for two years and was a cattle farmer. He enjoyed fishing, Shetland ponies and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Brethren Church in Fairview. 

 Gerald is survived by two sisters, Ruby Ely and Clara Mae Ely, both of Seneca; sister in law, Barbara Ely of Neosho; nieces and nephews, Ron Ely and wife, Cami of Grove, Oklahoma; Clarence Ely and wife, Toni of Clearwater Beach, Florida; Bev Burleson and husband, Rich and James Ely and wife, Rhonda all of Neosho; Jill Ely of Terre Haute, Indiana and numerous great nieces and nephews and ‘pony rider’s. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Ely and Lester Ely; one sister, Arilla Springer and a nephew, Don Ely. 

 
Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
