Leo Chambers age 86 of Joplin passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Joplin Health & Rehab.
He was born on May 6, 1930 in Harrison, Arkansas to Noah Chambers and Lillian (Willoughby) Chambers. Leo was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired from Atlas Powder Company after 42 years where he had many job titles.
He married Shirley (Spille) Chambers on May 29, 1953 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and she survives at home. Leo is also survived by his sons, David Chambers and wife Leona of Broken Arrow, OK., Glenn Chambers and wife Lynn of Carthage, Rodney Chambers and wife Debbie of Raymore, Timothy Chambers and wife Lorena of Webb City, Kevin Chambers and wife Penny of Fostoria, OH.; a brother, Johnny Chambers of Southwest City; a sister, Lucy Schrank of New Braunfels, TX; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Eloise Spicer, Leon Chambers, Martha Owens, and Tom Chambers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. The family will be present for a visitation on Friday from 12:30 PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Mount Hope Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
