Betty Jean Turner, age 90, Joplin, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2016.
Betty was born January 27, 1926 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late John M. Burrows and Laura Esther Price Burrows and had lived in the area all of her life.
She graduated from Baxter Springs High School and attended two years of business college in Miami, Oklahoma. She worked for the former Baxter State Bank and the Kansas Highway Department for several years. Betty worked for 31 years at Commerce Bank in Joplin in many capacities, retiring as assistant cashier. Betty was a faithful member of Apostolic Prosperity Faith Church since 1954.
She married Billie L. Turner on January 20, 1951 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2010.
She was also preceded in death by siblings, Clyde Clark, Paul Clark, Bertha Clark Beale, Dorothy Clark Bolin and Barbara Burrows Paxson and six nieces and nephews,
Betty is survived by three daughters, Glenda Cloud, Joplin, Cindy Turner, Joplin, Marcia Turner, Joplin; a son, David Turner and his wife, Karen, Waco, Texas; two sisters, Joann Brower , Seattle, Washington, Janice Baldwin and her husband, Roger, Ulysses, Kansas; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and twenty three nieces and nephews.
Services are planned for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Community Chapel Church. Rev. David Turner will officiate. Interment will follow at Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, Kansas. Pallbearers will be Price Cloud, Ben Turner, Lee Turner, Jacob Beyerlein, Daniel Bard and Ryan Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Shae Clark, Joseph Beyerlein and Shawn Turner. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Faith Bible College, P.O. Box 110, Baxter Springs, Kansas, 66713.
