Dema M. Slaughter, 79, Webb City, Missouri, died September 15, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following an extended illness.
Dema was born June 3, 1937 in Goodman, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Margaret (Schuler) Lynn. She was a lifelong area resident and in 1968, moved to Webb City where she and her husband Troy, owned and operated Dog N Suds. They had owned several businesses and retired from farming. Dema was an avid reader and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She married Troy Slaughter on September 1, 1960 in Carthage and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2011. She is survived by four children, Sandra D. Hager and husband, Miles of Bellevue, NE; Randy Slaughter and wife, Nancy of Joplin; Roy Slaughter and wife, Kathy of Webb City and Diana Zaccarello and husband, Joe of Carterville; two sisters, Ina Tucker of Carl Junction and Shirley Braastad of Cedar, Minnesota; a very special beloved sister in law, Opal Smith of Joplin; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Kelly Lynn Hornback and a sister, Dodie Frost.
Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
