Gladys Wynne

Mrs. Gladys Mae Wynne, 98, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Friday morning, October 8, 2021, in the comfort of her home.

Gladys entered this life on August 16, 1923, in Duenweg, Missouri, daughter of the late Noah Elmer and Anne (Hulbert) Harper. She was raised in Duenweg and was a 1939, graduate of Duenweg High School, where she was involved in choir, the girl’s championship basketball team and was salutatorian of her graduating class. 










On May 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Earl Wynne, Jr. and to this union three children were born, Jerry, Mary Ann and Don. She was employed at Elders Shirt Factory in Webb City for fifteen years before retiring from JCPenney in Joplin where she worked in shipping and receiving. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and eating fried chicken at Barto’s in Frontenac, Kansas. Gladys attended Faith Baptist Church in Webb City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Wynne, Jr. on January 20, 1996; three brothers, Harold, Clarence and Dwight Harper; and two sisters, Inez Hodges and Corine Black.

Gladys is survived by her three children, Jerry Wynne and wife, Patricia, Mary Ann Coleman and Don Wynne and wife, Debbie, all of Webb City; eight grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri, with Stan Crane and Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Steve Wynne, Brian Wynne, Billy Farmer, Troy Painter, Greg Harlen and Jeffery Harlen. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
