Norma Gaines

Norma Jean Gaines, age 89, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021.

She was born in Picher, Oklahoma to Percy Granule McAfee and W. Delphine McAfee on February 4, 1932.

Norma graduated from Stockton High School, class of 1951. She retired from St. John's Hospital after over 30 years.

She married Arthur Lee Gaines on September 22, 1972, and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Percy Granule McAfee, W. Delphine McAfee; two brothers, Jim McAfee, Harold Eugene; one sister, Joann Winnett; one daughter, Terri Smith; one granddaughter, Beth Ann Martin; and one grandson, Devin Hayes.

Norma is survived by three sons, Randy Hayes and wife Kathy Hayes, Texas, Ricky Hayes, Carterville, Missouri, Robert Hayes and wife, Patty Hayes, Joplin, Missouri; one daughter, Tricia Jennings and husband Paul Jennings, Neosho, Missouri; one brother, Bill McAfee and wife Betty McAfee; one sister, Janice Wilkins and husband, Jack Wilkins; and 17 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory Joplin, Missouri.
