(From Carson-Wall Funeral Home)Shirley Kay Kichler, 78, of Weir, died at 3:20 a.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021 in the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.
Shirley was born September 13, 1943 in Girard, the daughter of George William and Elizabeth Leona “Betty” (Wright) Dunbar. Shirley grew up in the Hepler area and graduated from the Girard High School.
She married Arnold George Kichler on July 16, 1960 in Girard. Arnold preceded her in death on October 8, 2020.
Shirley worked at Anshire Garment Factory and the Sugar Creek Packing Company, both in Pittsburg, Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott, and she assisted Arnold with all the duties at Kichler Construction Company of rural Girard.
Shirley was a member of the Lutheran Church and she enjoyed her family, singing, sewing, rummage sales, camping, and family reunions.
Survivors are her sons, Jesse Kichler (Marla) of Walnut, Donnie Kichler (Lori) of Walnut, Jimmie Kichler (Amy) of Carl Junction, MO, Robbie Kichler (Angie) of Goodman, MO; her daughters, Susan Mitchell (Dean) of Weir, Beth Seal of Girard, Kathey Sammons (Ivan) of Parsons, Cora Murray (Danny) of Radley, Lori Ripple (David) of Weir, Lisa Mize (Bryan) of Pittsburg, Tori Kichler Coleman (Rob) of McCune; 45 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold George Kichler; her sons, David Michael Kichler and Frankie James Kichler; her brothers, Larry “Davey” Dunbar and Donald Dunbar.
